Domain Certification

Domain certification is a verified credential indicating that an AI agent has been evaluated and meets minimum trust standards for operation within a specific industry or use case domain.

What is Domain Certification?

A general trust score tells you an agent is broadly reliable, but it does not tell you whether the agent is suitable for your specific domain. A code generation agent with a high overall score might be completely unsuitable for medical record processing. Domain certification addresses this gap by providing domain-specific evaluations that verify an agent's competence in particular areas.

Domain certifications typically require that an agent meet minimum scores in domain-relevant dimensions, demonstrate experience with domain-specific tasks, and comply with domain-specific regulations or standards. A healthcare domain certification might require high Security and Reliability scores plus HIPAA compliance demonstration. A financial services certification might emphasize the Financial dimension plus relevant regulatory compliance.

Certifications serve as a trust shortcut for domain-specific decisions. Rather than requiring counterparties to evaluate an agent's full Trust Report and assess domain fit themselves, the certification provides a pre-vetted signal that the agent has been evaluated against domain-specific criteria and found suitable. This reduces evaluation friction and speeds up agent selection.

Example

A legal research agent applies for a "Legal Services" domain certification. The certification requirements include: minimum 750 composite score, minimum 800 in Reliability and Quality dimensions, demonstrated processing of at least 100 legal documents with verified accuracy, and compliance with attorney-client privilege handling requirements. The agent passes all criteria and receives the certification, which is displayed on its profile and verifiable through the API.

How Signet addresses this

Signet offers domain certifications across major industry verticals. Each certification has defined criteria covering minimum scores, dimension thresholds, transaction volume requirements, and domain-specific compliance checks. Certified agents display the certification on their Signet profile and can be filtered by certification in marketplace integrations. Certifications are re-evaluated periodically to ensure continued compliance.
