Terms of Service

Effective date: February 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Signet website at agentsignet.com, the Signet API at api.agentsignet.com, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

"Signet," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the Service. "You" and "your" refer to the individual or entity accessing or using the Service.

1. Description of Service

Signet is a trust scoring platform for autonomous AI agents. The Service provides:

  • A unique Signet Identifier (SID) for each registered agent
  • Composite and dimensional trust scores computed from operator-reported transaction data and configuration metadata
  • Configuration fingerprinting and change tracking
  • Public and authenticated API endpoints for score lookup, reporting, and management
  • An embeddable badge widget for displaying agent trust scores on external websites
  • Educational content, documentation, and resources about agent trust

The Service is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid tiers or modify the pricing structure in the future with reasonable advance notice.

2. Accounts and API Keys

2.1 Account creation

You may obtain an account and API key through (a) the operator application process, subject to approval, or (b) the agent self-registration endpoint. You must provide accurate information during registration. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and API key.

2.2 API key security

Your API key is a secret credential. You must store it securely and must not share it publicly, embed it in client-side code, or transmit it over unencrypted channels. We store only a cryptographic hash of your API key and cannot retrieve it if lost. If you believe your API key has been compromised, contact us immediately.

2.3 One key per registration

Each registration generates a single API key. There is currently no automated key rotation mechanism. If your key is compromised or lost, you must contact us to resolve the situation.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Submit false or misleading data: Transaction reports, signal scores, and configuration data must accurately reflect real agent behavior and configuration. Fabricating transactions or inflating signals to manipulate trust scores is prohibited.
  • Engage in Sybil attacks: Creating multiple accounts or agents for the purpose of artificially inflating scores, evading rate limits, or gaming the scoring system is prohibited.
  • Circumvent rate limits: Attempting to bypass rate limiting through IP rotation, distributed requests, or other technical means is prohibited.
  • Reverse engineer scoring: While our scoring methodology is documented at a high level, you may not systematically probe the API to reverse-engineer the exact parameters, weights, or algorithms used in score computation for the purpose of gaming scores.
  • Interfere with the Service: You may not attempt to disrupt, degrade, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' accounts.
  • Misrepresent scores: You may not display modified, fabricated, or outdated Signet scores in a way that implies current Signet endorsement. The embeddable badge widget fetches scores in real time and is the authorized method for displaying scores on external sites.
  • Violate applicable law: You must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws in your use of the Service.

4. Trust Scores and Methodology

4.1 Algorithmic scores

Signet trust scores are computed algorithmically based on operator-reported transaction data, configuration metadata, and temporal factors (account age, activity frequency). Scores are not manually assigned, editorially curated, or guaranteed to reflect the actual trustworthiness of any agent. They are a quantitative signal derived from available data.

4.2 Score accuracy

Because scores are derived from self-reported data, their accuracy depends on the honesty and completeness of operator-submitted transaction reports. We implement anti-gaming measures (signal validation, rate limiting, confidence gating, decay mechanisms) but cannot guarantee that all scores accurately reflect real-world agent behavior.

4.3 No endorsement

A high trust score does not constitute an endorsement, certification, warranty, or guarantee by Signet regarding any agent's performance, safety, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Users of the Service should exercise their own judgment when relying on trust scores for decision-making.

4.4 Score changes

Scores may change at any time due to new transactions, configuration changes, time-based decay, activity-rate decay, or updates to our scoring methodology. We reserve the right to modify scoring algorithms, weights, thresholds, and decay parameters. Material changes to the scoring methodology will be documented.

4.5 Public visibility

By registering an agent, you consent to the public display of that agent's SID, name, composite score, confidence level, recommendation tier, and operator name through the public API endpoint and embeddable badge widget. This public visibility is fundamental to the purpose of the Service.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, algorithms, documentation, design, and content, is owned by Signet and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.

5.2 Your data

You retain ownership of the data you submit to the Service (agent names, descriptions, transaction reports, configuration metadata). By submitting data, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and display that data as necessary to operate and improve the Service, including the public display of information described in Section 4.5.

5.3 Embeddable badge

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Signet badge widget (badge.js) on your websites to display agent trust scores, provided you do not modify the widget code, alter the displayed information, or remove Signet attribution.

6. Availability and Modifications

We strive to maintain the availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of material changes that affect API compatibility.

7. Termination

7.1 By you

You may stop using the Service at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the address in Section 14.

7.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms or engagement in score manipulation. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination.

7.3 Effect of termination

Upon termination, your API key will be deactivated and you will lose access to authenticated endpoints. Publicly visible agent data (SID, name, composite score) may remain accessible through the public API for a reasonable transition period. Sections 4.3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 survive termination.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties
