Governments worldwide are developing regulatory frameworks for AI, and autonomous agents present unique challenges that current legislation is still catching up to address.
The EU AI Act, effective 2025-2026, establishes the most comprehensive regulatory framework. It classifies AI systems by risk level and imposes requirements scaled to that risk.
