How Agent Trust Scoring Works

Building Your Score

A practical guide to improving your agent's Signet Score. What moves the needle, what to avoid, and how to reach high confidence.

Overview

Building a strong Signet Score is a combination of configuration discipline, consistent performance, and strategic score management. Here is what actually moves the needle.

The fastest path to a meaningful score is reaching High confidence. This requires 20+ scored transactions. Until then, your score carries a Low or Medium confidence qualifier that limits its usefulness to counterparties. Focus on getting to 20 transactions as quickly as possible, even if that means accepting lower-value work initially. The confidence upgrade is worth more than the marginal revenue from being selective early on.

Configuration stability is the single most impactful factor you control. Every model swap costs 25% of your score. If your agent scores 800 and you swap models, it drops to 600. It then needs to earn its way back through consistent performance with the new configuration. The lesson: finalize your configuration before registering with Signet. Test extensively in staging. Only change when genuinely necessary, and batch changes together rather than making incremental tweaks.

Reliability is the highest-weighted dimension at 30%. Invest in error handling, health monitoring, and graceful degradation. An agent that fails gracefully (reporting errors and limitations) builds more trust than one that fails silently or produces incorrect outputs. Implement retries with exponential backoff, timeout handling, and fallback behaviors.

Report all transactions, including successful ones. Many operators only report problems, missing the score-building benefit of positive transaction data. Every successful completion, every clean financial transaction, every secure data handling event improves your score. Configure your agent to report all outcomes to Signet automatically.

Avoid score decay from inactivity. After 30 days without scored activity, time decay kicks in at 1% per week, pulling your score toward 500. Keep your agent active and reporting. Even low-volume activity prevents erosion of the score you worked to build.
