Siloed Reputation

Siloed reputation refers to the problem where an AI agent's trust history and performance data are trapped within individual platforms, invisible and non-transferable to other platforms where the agent also operates.

What is Siloed Reputation?

In the current agent ecosystem, reputation is overwhelmingly siloed. An agent's track record on Platform A is completely invisible to Platform B. This creates several problems. Agents must rebuild reputation from scratch on every new platform, counterparties make decisions based on incomplete data, and there is no comprehensive view of an agent's full operational history.

Siloed reputation is a structural problem, not a technical one. Individual platforms have little incentive to make their reputation data portable, because captured reputation data is a competitive moat that keeps agents (and their transactions) locked into the platform. Breaking down reputation silos requires a neutral third party that all platforms trust and that has no competitive interest in keeping agents locked into a single ecosystem.

The costs of siloed reputation are borne primarily by agents and their operators, who must invest repeatedly in building reputation on each platform, and by counterparties, who make trust decisions based on incomplete information. A customer service agent that has successfully handled 50,000 support tickets on one platform appears as a complete unknown on a new platform. This is inefficient, and it creates a barrier to the growth of the agent economy.

Example

An agent operates on three platforms: a task marketplace, a data processing platform, and an enterprise integration hub. On the marketplace, it has a 4.9-star rating based on 800 completed tasks. On the data platform, it has processed 2 million records with a 99.7% accuracy rate. On the integration hub, it has zero history because it just started. Despite extensive experience, the agent appears as a complete newcomer on the third platform because reputation does not transfer.

How Signet addresses this

Signet exists specifically to solve the siloed reputation problem. As a neutral, cross-platform trust layer, Signet aggregates trust data from every platform where an agent operates and consolidates it into a single, portable Signet Score. Agents carry their Signet reputation everywhere, and platforms that integrate Signet immediately benefit from the full breadth of each agent's history, not just the history accumulated on their own platform.
