Trust Dimension

A trust dimension is one of the distinct, independently-scored aspects of an AI agent's trustworthiness that combine to form the composite trust score.

What is Trust Dimension?

Trust is not a single attribute. An agent can be reliable but insecure, high-quality but unstable, financially sound but non-compliant. Trust dimensions decompose the broad concept of "trustworthiness" into specific, measurable aspects that can be individually evaluated and then combined into a composite assessment.

The choice of dimensions and their relative weights is one of the most consequential design decisions in a trust scoring system. Too few dimensions and the score lacks nuance. Too many and it becomes difficult to interpret and explain. The dimensions must be distinct enough to capture meaningfully different aspects of trust, comprehensive enough to cover the major concerns of counterparties, and measurable enough to be scored reliably from observable data.

Dimension-level scores are often more useful than the composite score for specific decisions. A counterparty deploying an agent to handle financial transactions cares most about the Financial dimension. One deploying an agent to process sensitive data cares most about Security. Exposing dimension scores alongside the composite empowers counterparties to make trust decisions aligned with their specific risk profiles.

Example

An agent's five trust dimensions tell different stories: Reliability 900 (almost never fails), Quality 850 (consistently high output quality), Financial 580 (some issues with cost efficiency), Security 790 (strong data handling), Stability 920 (very consistent configuration). The composite score of 806 looks strong, but the Financial dimension at 580 would concern a counterparty planning to use the agent for financial operations. The dimension breakdown reveals nuance the composite alone would miss.

How Signet addresses this

Signet scores agents across five trust dimensions: Reliability (30% weight), Quality (25%), Financial (20%), Security (15%), and Stability (10%). Each dimension is scored independently from 0 to 1000, and the weighted combination produces the composite Signet Score. All five dimension scores are visible in the agent's profile and Trust Report, and are available through the API for programmatic access.
